$200 Billion & Rising Seminar - 6 March
‘Valuation of Infrastructure Assets’
Wednesday 6th March - DLA Philips Fox, Customhouse Quay, Wellington
The Seminar:
Previously known as the ‘Valuation of Infrastructure Assets’ Seminar - this practical one day workshop will take attendees through a series of presentations, case studies and workshops with the outcome of developing and applying valuation frameworks relevant to the wide variety of assets they manage.
Why you should go:
A key component of good asset management practices is the completion of reliable, consistent and comparable valuations of infrastructure assets. Such valuations also contribute to better accountability to stakeholders and, of course, better decision making by those who manage these assets.
Whether you intend to undertake part of the asset valuation yourself, or you intend to engage someone else to undertake it on your behalf, it is important you and your colleagues understand the principles of valuing infrastructural assets. Valuing infrastructure assets can be tricky unless you know what is involved.
On completion of the seminar attendees will:
• Understand the principles behind the valuation of infrastructure assets
• Have a good understanding of the asset valuation process
• Be aware of the key issues to consider when valuing different groups of assets
Aspects of valuation covered in the seminar include:
|
Ø Overview of NAMS Valuation and Depreciation guidelines Ø Why we undertake valuations Ø The asset valuation process Ø IFRS requirements Ø Auditor General feedback on valuations Ø Generic Valuation issues– who can do valuations, initial recognition of costs, componentisation, useful lives, optimisation, unit replacement costs, methods of depreciation Ø Network specific valuation issues Ø Transportation, Utilities, Parks and Recreation, Property, Heritage assets Ø Case Studies and worked examples |
