Kathy Dever-Tod Biography

As the NAMS Group CEO, Kathy is responsible for the development and implementation of NAMS Strategy and direction in conjunction with the NAMS Group Board. Her role includes:

- Manual development- direction, quality, promotion and content
- Training development- direction, content, delivery methods and promotion
- Deliver physical services, where appropriate e.g., mentoring, training, peer reviews, asset management advisory etc
- Presentation of papers at conferences in New Zealand and overseas
Kathy has an asset management practitioner background from 12 years at Palmerston North City Council managing parks and property assets. Kathy was responsible for a team which developed implemented and reviewed asset management strategies for an asset portfolio of 128 properties worth $400 million.
Kathy has been involved in the development and review of most of the NAMS manuals and has also developed and delivered specialist asset management courses for a number of organisations. Kathy has presented a number of conference papers and training courses overseas including in Malaysia, South Africa, Fiji, Canada and Australia.
Kathy was a member of the NAMS Committee from 2003-2006, and is a currently a member of NZRA and SOLGM
Kathy sees the key issues for asset management in New Zealand as being:
• Managing assets in a resource constrained environment
• Fostering the ongoing development of best practice
• Ensuring that asset management practice continues to be shared
• Growing the human resource pool - supporting the development of asset management skills
• Elected official buy-in; the need to plan and fund assets in the long term
